TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 26. Uzbekistan plans to launch 24 major projects worth $12.7 billion in 2024, Trend reports.
The number was revealed during a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and representatives of electrical, chemical and pharmaceutical industries of the Uzbek regions.
The new facilities under consideration involve the expansion of the production capacity of polyvinyl chloride at Navoiazot and soda ash in Kungrad, as well as the production of olefins from methanol in Karakul, and the production of metal sheets for cars in Samarkand.
Additionally, a combination of Uzbek industrial enterprises and and regional administrations jointly initiated 190 medium and small projects valued at $2.1 billion in the field of electrical engineering, 139 projects with a total worth of $3.8 billion in the chemical industry, and 110 medium and small projects amounting to $1.5 billion in the pharmaceutical sector.
Earlier this year it was announced that Uzbekistan’s Navoiyazot industrial plant is set to increase capacity through the commissioning new production facilities in 2024.
As per data by Navoiyazot, at the moment, modern equipment worth $15 million is being installed in the technological complex. With the commissioning of the enterprise, created jointly with the Polish company, 150 new jobs will be created.
Moreover, additional capacities are planned to be installed in the complex equipped with Chinese equipment. This will allow replacing previously imported stainless steel and iron products with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes.
