Iran and Tajikistan have inked five agreements during their Nineth Joint Economic Cooperation Meeting in Dushanbe on Tuesday.
The memorandum of the meeting includes notes on the signing of agreements for the construction of a power plant, cooperation between the Iranian Khatamol-Osia Construction Headquarters and Tajikistan's Energy Ministry, cooperation between health ministries, and cooperation between the Sabir Company and the Tajik Transport Ministry.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said the government has allocated a special budget to the Sangtudeh Dam project, which is being carried out by Iran in Tajikistan.
In April, Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ali-Asghar Sherdoost said the presidents of Iran, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan recently signed a memorandum of understanding authorizing the construction of a highway from Iran to Afghanistan and Tajikistan and from there to China.
Trade between Iran and Tajikistan exceeded $500 million during Iranian calendar year 1390 (March 2011-March 2012).
