BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. The imports and exports through the customs office operating at Imam Khomeini International Airport in Iran amounted to 40 tons worth $4.65 billion during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024).
Trend obtained data from the country's Customs Administration, revealing that the customs office at the Imam Khomeini International Airport processed 36 tons of products worth approximately $4.53 billion during the six-month period. Imports of products increased by 133 percent in value and 91 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
During the six months, the main imports were gold bars, cell phones, pharmaceuticals, medical instruments, and communication devices. The UAE, Germany, Türkiye, China, and France were the main importers of these products.
The customs office at Imam Khomeini International Airport exported a total of 4 tons of products worth $127 million over a six-month period. Compared to the same period last year, the export of products in value terms did not change, but in weight terms, it increased by 18 percent.
The exported products were mainly carpets, saffron, and medicines. Germany, the UAE, England, and Iraq received the exported products.
Furthermore, Imam Khomeini International Airport transported 4.67 million passengers during the mentioned period. The number of passengers carried increased by 15 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Iran exported 70 million tons of non-oil products worth $25.8 billion during six months. Compared to the same period last year, the export of products increased by 6.5 percent in value and 3.5 percent in weight.
To note, Iran imported non-oil products worth $32.6 billion during the mentioned period.
