Within two to three weeks it will become known which Swiss company will monitor the cargo on the Georgian-Russian border, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nikoloz Vashakidze said at a news briefing on Monday.
He said the Swiss side continues to search for the company, and after it is determined, the question will be agreed with the Georgian side.
"For us the main thing is that the mandate under which the company will operate, is clearly defined and is consistent with the agreement with Russia, reached under the mediation of Switzerland, in connection with its accession to the WTO," Vashakidze said.
Georgia agreed to Russia's accession to the WTO in exchange for control over the movement of goods through the territory of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Company to monitor the situation in those areas of the Georgian-Russian border is to be selected by Switzerland, which is an intermediary in relations between Georgia and Russia because of the absence of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
