Türkiye counts chemical product transshipment volume by its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. Approximately 6.5 million tons of chemical products were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through May of this year, the statistics of the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

The ministry noted that 681,318 tons of cargo were transported by vessels under the flag of Türkiye, while 5.8 million tons were transported by vessels under the flags of other states.

"In May this year, 1,025 tons of chemical products were transited from the ports of Türkiye," the statement of the ministry said.

In May of 2024, however, 34.7 million tons of cargo passed through Türkiye's ports.

The total quantity of cargo traffic to domestic ports from vessels flying the Turkish flag during this time was 2.3 million tons.

Foreign flagged ships carrying 32.4 million tons of cargo passed through Türkiye's ports.

Furthermore, transit cargo totaling 5.5 million tons was moved from Türkiye's ports in May 2024.

During the first half of 2024, the Turkish ports handled 171.8 million tons of cargo.

The volume of cargo transportation by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 12.3 million tons. Meanwhile, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 159.5 million tons.

About 28.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through May 2024.

To note, 5,289 vessels passed through Türkiye's ports in May of this year. There were 3,566 vessels accepted by Turkish ports during this period flying foreign colors, while 1,723 vessels were accepted under the Turkish flag.

Turkish ports received 23,770 vessels from January through May 2024. During this period, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 16,272, and the number of vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 7,498.
