"Heavy rains damaged and flooded 600 homes in Kohnudzh and surrounding villages and towns in the Iranian province of Kerman," Kohnudzh City Executive Power head Abbas Etminani was quoted as saying by the Iranian Mehr news agency. "The level of silt in the seven urban areas has reached 1.5 meters."
According to the official, currently 10 rescue teams are engaged in drying homes, streets and helping residents. However, their number must increase due to the large-scale damage caused by the cyclone. Etminani demanded the arrival of support teams from other cities.
The average annual rainfall in Kohnudzh is 203 millimeters, but in the past two days they dropped 103 millimeters. According to forecasts, the heavy rains will pour a few more days.
