A memorial day in honor of Azerbaijan's former all-national leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan today.
The event was attended by embassy officials, representatives of the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Friendship and Culture Association, Nur Otan People's Democratic Party and Azerbaijani diaspora in Kazakh capital.
"Aliyev was the architect and founder of modern Azerbaijan, so all the achievements of today's Azerbaijan can be attributed to him," Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Latif Gandilov said during the opening of the event.
Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Friendship and Culture Association Chairman, Professor Askhat Shakirov spoke about the historical ties between the two countries and Aliyev's role in reconstructing and developing relations between the two brotherly nations.
Head of the Analysis, Forecasts and Social Initiatives Center of the Nur Otan Almaty Branch Kazbek Kazkenov and Nur Otan in the National Medicial Holding First Deputy Chairman Zauresh Kenzhetaeva were also among the guest speakers.
They noted Aliyev's many achievements from the Soviet Union to modern Azerbaijan and lauded his role in creating friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
