"For France, it is important that the existing conflicts in Georgia are resolved diplomatically and peacefully," the members of the National Assembly of France Roland Blum and Christian Batay said to a joint press conference after meeting with Georgian State Minister on European Integration, Vice Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze .
"We were convinced that the Caucasus is a zone containing a threat, where a lot of conflicts exist - the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, conflict between Armenia and Turkey, as well as the conflict between Georgia and Russia. Europe, including France, is interested in resolving these conflicts by peaceful means," said Christian Batay.
According to him, next month they will provide a report before the members of the National Assembly regarding the situation in the South Caucasus. In his turn, Roland Blum noted that the meeting was fruitful and it contributes to the Georgian-French relations.
"At today's meeting, we discussed Georgia's integration into NATO and the EU. France supports the registration of an association agreement between Georgia and the EU, with which it will be possible to continue the path to EU accession," said Blum.
