ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 7. Freedom Telecom will create a fiber-optic hyperhighway from West to East, as well as a data processing center no lower than TIER-3 level for the transit and storage of international internet traffic, Trend reports via the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan.
Memorandums of cooperation were signed in the areas of constructing the fiber-optic hyperhighway and creating data centers (DCs) no lower than TIER-3 level for the transit and storage of international traffic between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Freedom Telecom Holding Ltd.
The implementation of these initiatives will provide the country with an alternative route for international data transit between Europe and East Asia, increase Kazakhstan's competitiveness in digital services, and create conditions to attract leading global IT companies.
The construction of the national West-East hyperhighway will significantly increase the volume of transmitted data and give Kazakhstan a key role in international internet traffic transit. This project aims to reduce data transmission delays, increase connection speeds, and create an alternative route for traffic transit between Europe and Asia. The completion of the hyperhighway construction is expected in 2026.
This is especially important for cloud technologies, financial operations, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The construction of the hyperhighway also contributes to attracting international clients, including large IT companies, telecommunications corporations, and financial institutions interested in fast and secure data transit.
A key element of Kazakhstan's digital infrastructure development is the construction of modern data centers (DCs) that will accumulate content and ensure traffic connectivity. These centers will meet the international Tier-III standard, guaranteeing high reliability, security, and uninterrupted operation.
The signing of the memorandum for the projects "Construction of the National West-East Hyperhighway" and "Creation of DCs no lower than Tier-III level" is a strategically important step for Kazakhstan in digital development. Thanks to these initiatives, the country will be able to increase its share of international traffic transit and create a reliable data storage infrastructure.
To note, the funding for these projects comes from private investments.
Additionally, Tier III is a high standard that guarantees uninterrupted operation during maintenance, preventive measures, and equipment upgrades in data centers (DCs).
