ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 15. Kazakhstan intends to increase irrigated and hayfield areas in 2025, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
A total of 97,300 ha will be allocated for grain crops in Kazakhstan, 3,800 ha for oilseeds, 71,100 ha for fodder crops, and 17,800 ha for potatoes, vegetables, and melons.
"Crop sequence timetable indicates that rice will be sown on an area of 85.900 hectares in Kazakhstan this year. All agricultural structures in the region are fully supplied with the necessary seed material, with 41.100 tons of the required 64.600 tons of mineral fertilizers purchased, and 3.400 liters of the planned 74.100 liters of herbicides," information notes.
The information also accentuated that, thanks to Kazakh government support, the machinery and tractor fleet is constantly being updated. Additionally, for the conduct of spring fieldwork and other field activities this year, the region has been allocated 10.000 tons of subsidized diesel fuel.
"It is planned to irrigate 21.300 hectares of agricultural land, as well as 76.200 hectares of hayfields," the ministry added.
Moreover, the ministry also informed that the progress of the work plan is under constant control, which allows for quick responses to emerging issues and ensures the successful conduct of the agricultural season.
The agricultural formations of Kazakhstan purchased 250 units of machinery worth 8.8 billion tenge ($17.6 million) in 2024. The country has already prepared 4,046 units of agricultural machinery for the beginning of the sowing season.
