BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9. Azerbaijan exported non-oil products worth $232.9 million to Russia from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this represents an increase of $7.3 million, or 3.3 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
The export of non-oil products to Russia accounted for 30.17 percent of Azerbaijan’s total exports during this period, making Russia the top destination for Azerbaijan’s non-oil exports.
In total, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia reached $1.4 billion in the first three months of 2025, marking an increase of $540.8 million, or 60.7 percent, compared to the same months in 2024. This accounted for 11.88 percent of Azerbaijan's total trade turnover, positioning Russia as the second-largest trading partner for Azerbaijan.
Exports from Azerbaijan to Russia amounted to $233.8 million in the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a 2.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, Azerbaijan imported goods worth $1.2 billion from Russia, marking an 81 percent increase, or $535.9 million, from the previous year. This made Russia Azerbaijan’s largest import partner.
In total, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover reached $12 billion, up 24.3 percent year-on-year. Exports increased by 6.7 percent, or $401.75 million, to $6.4 billion, while imports rose by 52.6 percent, or $1.9 billion, to $5.7 billion. The foreign trade balance showed a positive surplus of $722.9 million, a decrease of 3.1 times, or $1.5 billion, compared to the same period last year.
