Iranian Bank’s Branch to Render Service through Millicard in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Millicard CJSC signed an agreement with the branch of the Iranian Melli Iran Bank to issue plastic cards, Jalal Orujev, director of the processing Centre, reported on 23 November. As a result the number of banks which use the Millicard services is planning to reach to 11.

Melli Iran Bank launches emission from the next year, including local cards. The Processing Centre in its turn will simultaneously hold negotiations with international payment systems of the MasterCard and Visa International.

Orujev considers loyal the aforesaid payment systems and therefore the Iranian bank will be represented in one of the systems. [the United States imposed sanctions upon the Melli Iran Bank due to maintenance of nuclear and missile programs of Iran.]

The National Bank of Azerbaijan signed an agreement to transform of the Centre to management of 18 banks.

Millicard was founded on 14 July 2006. The authorized capital of the Centre constituted AZN 4mln. Atabank, Azardamiryolbank, AzerturkBank, Bank of Baku, Azerbaijan Senaye Banki, Debut Bank, Amrahbank, Khalgbank, Credobank, Azerbaijani Micro Financing Bank, Parabank, Rabitabank, Bank Respublika, Bank Standard, Texnikabank, Turanbank, UniBank and Zaminbank are the founders of the Centre.
