As of July 1, 4.393 million payment cards were in use in Azerbaijan. It exceeds the similar index in June by 0.2 percent, and 5.9 percent compared to the same period of 2010, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said.
Total turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS-terminals as of July 1 amounted to 552 million manat, while total number of operations - 3,830.
The number of operations with debit cards hit 3.615 million in this period. Total amount of operations with debit cards hit 487 million manat.
Some 3.399 million operations were held with debit cards through the ATM worth 456 million manat and 122,000 operations through the POS- terminals in amount of 17 million manat.
The number of operations by credit cards hit 215,000 worth 64 million manat.
A total of 85,000 operations worth 24 million manat were carried out by credit cards through the ATM and 28,000 operations in amount of 14 million manat through POS-terminals.
As of July 1, 1,985 ATMs were in use in the country, increasing by 208 units during the year. Some 1,101 ATMs are located in Baku, while 884 - in other cities and regions.
During the reporting period, the number of POS-terminals totaled 10,609 units, 9,307of which are located in Baku, while 906 units in other cities and regions.
The official exchange rate on Aug. 18 is 0.7864 manat to $1.
