Nominal GDP growth of Azerbaijan rose to almost 18 percent

Azerbaijan's GDP increase by 0.1 per cent, reaching 50.1 billion manat in 2011, the State Committee on Statistics told Trend on Wednesday. Nominal GDP growth amounted to 17.9 percent and GDP per capita amounted to 5530.6 manat ($7003.4).

The non-oil sector increased by 9.4 per cent and constituted 48.3 per cent of the GDP in 2011. The share of oil and gas and manufacturing sectors amounted to 51.7 per cent of the GDP, with a decrease in production volume by 9.3 per cent.

'The decline in oil production in the country has had a negative impact on the performance of the transportation of goods and as a result, the amount of added value on transportation goods decreased by 0.8 per cent', the State Statistics Committee said.

At the same time other sectors of the economy experienced significant growth; added value grew by 22.6 per cent in the organisation of housing and food service industry, 20 per cent in construction, 11.8 per cent in information and communication, 10.2 per cent in trade and services, 5.8 per cent in agriculture, forestry and fisheries and 5.7 per cent in the social and other services.

Net taxes on products and imports increased by 8.2 per cent which amounted to 2.98 billion manat, or six per cent of the GDP.
