Kyrgyzstan will return the radioactive coal supplied from Kazakhstan in September to its supplier. An agreement on this issue was signed at the meeting of Kyrgyz company Electric Stations and Kazakh company Kulan TB on Feb. 7, Electric Stations reported.
"According to the agreement, the total coal consignment will be returned back by the supplier. i.e. all transportation, shipping and customs payment will be realized by Kazakh company Kulan TB," the company said.
Moreover, the supplier will compensate Electric stations' payments to receive and ship the coal to the Bishkek heat and power plant.
Kulan TB will supply the coal back to Kazakhstan in near future after receiving permissive documents from the Kazakh relevant bodies.
Kazakhstan supplied 8,576 tons of coal from Kulan field to Kyrgyzstan in September. Later, the radiation background of the Kulan field was estimated at 8-10 times more than the norm.
