The State enterprise "Azerglass" intends to bring annual production capacity up to 70 - 76 million bottles, Director General of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation (AIC) Kamran Nabizade told Trend May 8.
Earlier, the enterprise was transferred to the balance of the Corporation.
"Currently, a strategy is being drawn up to increase production volumes. Today, only the line on production of transparent glass works at the factory. The volume of production is 35-38 million pieces of glass containers per year. This figure does not even cover the needs of the domestic market, so we are thinking about increasing production," Nabizade said.
He noted that the enterprise also plans to establish a new line for the production of colored glass. To this end, negotiations are underway with foreign companies.
"Today we are carrying out assessment work in this direction. Some of the equipment for the new line has already been delivered, but not installed. Now, the construction and installation work in connection with the launch of the second line is submitted for the tender. The expected production capacity of the line will be 80 million bottles a year," Nabizade said.
He noted that the main task of the enterprise is to cover the demand in the domestic market. The demand for glass bottles in Azerbaijan today is 300-350 million pieces per year, and, when excluding specialized products, 200-250 million bottles per year.
In November 2017, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation OJSC. According to the decree, the authorized capital of the agro-industrial complex and other assets for its activities are formed mainly from to the property owned (being on the balance sheet) of Aqrarkredit CJSC, received in exchange for distressed assets (debts) handed over by the International Bank of Azerbaijan OJSC and transferred to the ownership (on the balance sheet) of “AIC” OJSC.
