The most popular Azerbaijani agricultural products in Russia are tomatoes produced in Baku, Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus Olga Rukhullayeva told Trend.
The products under the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand are, in general, quite in demand, but tomatoes produced in Baku are in high demand in the consumer markets of Russian cities and regions, the deputy minister said.
She noted that there is also a great demand for Azerbaijani dried fruits, nuts and pomegranate juices.
"Russia is in 9th place regarding the import of Azerbaijani products. The main export item of Azerbaijan to Russia is fruits and vegetables. In 2017, imports from Azerbaijan to Russia grew by 55 percent, showing the best dynamics among Russia's partners in the CIS. In my opinion, it is an indicator of the great prospect for the sale of Azerbaijani products in Russia," Rukhullayeva added.
According to the deputy minister, in order to take advantage of the available opportunities in the face of growing competition in the Russian market, coordinated efforts on both sides, in particular, the development of a joint action program is needed.
"Sale of products under the 'Made in Azerbaijan' brand will affect its recognition in the Russian market, and I am sure that this will have a positive effect on demand," she said.
