The World Bank (WB) is very impressed with the reform program implemented by Georgia over the past few years, Trend reports citing commersant.ge.
Newly appointed World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus made the statement at a meeting with the Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Machavariani.
Ivane Machavariani congratulated the guest on the new position and thanked the World Bank for effective and productive cooperation.
The parties discussed current projects financed by WB in the field of infrastructure, and the reforms planned by the Government of Georgia in the field of education and human capital development.
It was noted that the agreement signed between the World Bank and the Government of Georgia on June 18 on the allocation of 90 million euros by WB for the development of the education system in Georgia will be conducive to the successful implementation of the project “Innovation, Inclusion and Quality”. In turn, it is a part of another important project, which aims to increase human capital in Georgia.
At the meeting, Georgia’s progress in the reform process was positively assessed, It was agreed to further deepen cooperation between the World Bank and the Government of Georgia.
The World Bank is an active supporter of the reforms implemented in Georgia. Within 25 years of operating in the country, the World Bank Group made investments totaling to $4.3 billion in the country.
