BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 27. Iran’s imports through the customs of Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 333 percent in value and 237 percent in volume, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports.
The director general noted that a total of 25,300 tons of goods worth $56.3 million were imported through the customs of Iran’s Golestan Province in four months.
According to Shahriari, soybean oil, various polymers, fabric, etc. were the main imported goods through the province’s customs for the reporting period.
Shahriari also added that the mentioned goods were imported from 19 countries, including China, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and others.
"In addition, 19,000 tons of cargo worth approximately $110 million transited through the customs of Golestan Province within 4 months. This is an increase of 490 percent in value and 226 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year," he said.
During four months, the province's customs revenues amounted to approximately 1.7 trillion rials (about $40.7 million), which is an increase of 416 percent compared to the same period last year, the official also pointed out.
Overall, Iran imported 9.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $14 billion within the first three months of the current Iranian year.
This is an increase of 5.79 percent in value and 1 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
