U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization Confirms Absence of Bird Flu in Azerbaijan

The experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations confirmed the conclusion of the State Veterinary Service of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Agriculture on absence of the mass death of birds in Boyuk Behmenli village of Fizuli district of Azerbaijan, Trend reports quoting the State Service.

The specialists of the Veterinary Service arrived in the village and discovered that the death of birds is not observed in the border zone with Iran and Boyuk Behmenli village. The FAO Specialist, Gholan Kiani, repeatedly visited the village, inspected hens, gooses and other domestic birds and held negotiations with the inhabitants of the village.

In addition, Kiani inspected small lakes around the territory near the Iranian border. The monitoring showed the absence of the mass death of birds. The State Service calls on population not to believe in such anomalous data and states that the monitoring to discover bird flu is continuing in the country and that presently, the mass death of the birds have not been discovered. All veterinary border services are conducting inspections to prevent the penetration of the virus into the Country. The ban on hunting, the sale and use of wild birds, as well as the import of poultry from countries where there has previously been cases of the bird flu' virus, is in force.
