Azerbaijan, Baku, Apr. 7 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

Azerbaijan, Romania and Georgia will sign a memorandum of understanding on gas supply cooperation during Azerbaijan Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev's visit to Bucharest April 10-14, the ministry's spokesman Azer Mansimli said.

The memorandum will be signed by the Romanian Economy, Trade and Business Environment Ministry, the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry and the Georgian Energy Ministry.

The construction of an Azerbaijani gas-processing terminal in Georgia's Black Sea coast region and its transportation to Romania or Bulgaria for shipment to Europe's domestic gas network are issues under consideration. The project is being reviewed in two directions - LNG and CNG - building a gas liquefaction plant and deliverying the gas directly to ships for compression. The project covers roughly 7-20 billion cubic meters of gas.

SOCAR intends to prepare a feasibility study of the gas exports project, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said earlier.

"The preparation of the feasibility study will allow us to identify the most advantageous options [of gas exports via the Black Sea]. We have several options, including LNG and CNG exports. There are also possibilities for transit through Turkey. The wide variety of options will allow us to choose the right path," he added.

He said Romania and Bulgaria are interested in realizing the gas exports project via the Black Sea. Work with both sides is underway.
