The production of diesel fuel and gasoline by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), while meeting ecological standards of Euro-3, will cost 22-23 million dollars, SOCAR's senior representative said.
According to him, the transfer to diesel fuel production on Euro-3 will not take much time, but will require a large amount of money.
"Production of diesel fuel on Euro-3 will be possible, particularly because of the replacement of catalysts, and will cost the company worth $10 million," the company's representative said. SOCAR plans to begin the production of diesel fuel on Euro-3 in 2011.
In January-November 2010, SOCAR produced 2.21 million tons of diesel fuel, which is 207,800 tons more than the production output for the same period in 2009. In November 2010, SOCAR produced 174,700 tons of diesel fuel, which is 3,900 tons less than that produced in November last year.
According to SOCAR's representative, bringing the quality of gasoline to Euro-3 standards will require the construction of a small additional facility when installing a catalytic reforming unit at the Heydar Aliyev oil refinery. Estimates put the cost of the project at 12-13 million dollars. The company intends to begin production of gasoline on Euro-3 in 2012.
In January-November 2010, SOCAR produced 1.139.690 tons of gasoline, which is 10,300 tons more than the amount produced in the same period of 2009. In November 2010, SOCAR produced 108,460 tons of gasoline, which is 6,600 tons more than that produced in November last year.
