Azerbaijan more than doubles petroleum coke exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Azerbaijan’s petroleum coke exports stood at around 217,660 tons from January through September 2023, as compared to 106,071 tons in the same period in 2022, Trend reports via the State Customs Committee.

As such, the volume of exports has increased by 2.05 times year-on-year.

The value of exports rose from almost $32.2 million in the first nine months of 2022 to $56.3 million in the same period in 2023, showing a 74.8 percent increase.

The volume of exports of crude oil and petroleum products from Azerbaijan has shown a noteworthy increase, rising from 19.5 million tons from January through September 2022 to nearly 19.9 million tons during the same period this year, marking a 2.05 percent growth.

According to data from the State Customs Committee, the share of crude oil and petroleum products in Azerbaijan's total exports for the reporting period stood at 45.79 percent, compared to 50.46 percent the previous year.

Azerbaijan's oil is distributed to neighboring countries and global markets via three major pipelines: Baku-Novorossiysk, Baku-Supsa, and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC). Currently, transportation through the Baku-Supsa pipeline is temporarily halted.

Furthermore, oil is also exported by rail to the Georgian terminals in Batumi and Kulevi.
