BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. The STAR oil refinery in Türkiye, owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), received 973,110 tons of crude oil in May 2024, Trend reports with reference to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Türkiye (EPDK).
This marks a 4.5 percent decline compared to the 1.018 million tons supplied during the same period in 2023.
Despite the decrease in crude oil supplies, the refinery produced a variety of petroleum products during this period, including 444,122 tons of diesel fuel, 11,950 tons of biodiesel-containing diesel fuel, 125,650 tons of aviation fuel, 113,764 tons of other products, 123,549 tons of heavy vacuum gas oil, 12,646 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 118,392 tons of naphtha, 67,333 tons of petroleum coke, 33,534 tons of gas, and 1,055 tons of high sulfur diesel.
From January to May 2024, the STAR refinery imported nearly 4.6
million tons of oil, EPDK reports.
The STAR refinery, with an investment cost of $6.3 billion, began
operations in October 2018. Approximately $3.3 billion of the
project's cost was financed through loans. The refinery has an
annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons and can process
214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
