Georgia to receive 35M euro from France in support of social welfare reforms

Georgia will receive 35 million euro from French Development Agency (AFD) to support social welfare reforms, Trend reports citing Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

The agreement was signed between Georgia and the French Development Agency on November 29.

AFD is cooperating with Georgia in the framework of a 3-year (2018-2020) social program which aims to develop the social support.

The program includes the following areas: provision of adequate services to persons with disabilities; adequate, affordable and quality health care system; optimization of resource allocation for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) which details the closure of the damaged buildings and the provision of in need families with a relevant housing.

In the framework of this program, the first tranche worth 35 million euro has already been transferred to Georgia in the beginning of this year.

The French Development Agency is a public financial institution that implements the policy defined by the French Government. It works to fight poverty and promote sustainable development.
