Azerbaijan attends meeting of CIS humanitarian fund

CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation began considering projects submitted by the CIS countries for funding 2010-2011, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan (MCIT) said on Dec. 7.

According to the Ministry, the question is considered by an expert group of the Fund. Azerbaijan is represented at the event by the head of the information society development department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies Rufat Gulmammadov.

The projects submitted for consideration at the Fund must meet its goals and tasks, priorities, respond to the specific needs of CIS countries' cooperation in culture, education, science, communication and information, archives, sports, tourism and youth work.

Today there are plans to implement a number of projects aimed at developing common information space of the CIS and strengthening the humanitarian component of the flow of information on post-Soviet space. Today, the Fund supports creating an Internet portal of the CIS, which includes a section on humanitarian cooperation.
