Over 60,000 tourists from Central Asia visit Turkey

In February 2019, 62,000 tourists from Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan) visited Turkey, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.

During the reported period, most of the tourists from the countries of Central Asia who visited Turkey came from Turkmenistan.

In February 2019, 21,200 tourists from Turkmenistan visited Turkey, which is 28.1 percent more compared to the same period in 2018. The share of Turkmen citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey during this period was 1.27 percent.

Uzbekistan ranked second among the above mentioned countries. However, there was a decrease in the number of Uzbek tourists compared to the same month in 2018.

In February 2019, 16,600 tourists from Uzbekistan visited Turkey, which is 10.2 percent less compared to the same month in 2018. The share of Uzbek citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey during this period was 1 percent.

In February 2019, 15,500 tourists from Kazakhstan visited Turkey, which is 13.2 percent more compared to February 2018. The share of citizens of Kazakhstan in the total number of foreigners visited Turkey during the reported period was 0.93 percent.

The number of those who visited Turkey from Kyrgyzstan in February 2019 reached 8,700, which is 6.4 percent more compared to the same month in 2018. The share of Kyrgyz citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey during the period was 0.53 percent.

In February 2019, 1,670 million tourists visited Turkey, which is 9.38 percent more compared to the same period in 2018.

During this period, Istanbul was visited by over 984,000 tourists, with Antalya being visited by 135,000 tourists.
