A total of 2.6 million tons of cargo were handled in Kazakhstan’s Aktau and Kuryk seaports over the period of first five months of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.
Some 10-percent increase of cargo vehicles handling was observed during the reporting period (2,824 vehicles compared to 2,564 vehicles last year). Increase in containers handling by 19 percent was also observed, having amounted to 11,712 units.
The sea merchant fleet also transported 1 million tons of cargo between the Caspian Sea ports during the reporting period, which is 4 percent more compared to the same period in 2019 (967,000 tons).
Furthermore, 153,000 tons of various cargo were transported via river transport, including 46,000 tons to Omsk Oblast in Russia, which is 8 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.
Currently there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan: Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.
Nowadays Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is a modern multi-purpose terminal that allows the transportation of goods from East to West, from North to South and back 12 months a year and 24 hours a day.
Bautino сargo district is a division Aktau International Commercial Sea Port, and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau), in the waters of the Bautino Bay of Tyubkaragansky Gulf.
Kuryk Port is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, south of Aktau city. The port has direct access to the railway. The ferry complex of the port is designed for transshipment of goods, including grain, petroleum products, fertilizers and chemicals.
