Freight transportation tariffs in Kyrgyzstan on rise

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 4. Freight transportation tariffs in Kyrgyzstan rose by 16.2 percent in the first five months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, this increase was mainly driven by a 16.8 percent rise in railway transport tariffs.

In contrast, road transportation tariffs decreased by 0.9 percent, and air transportation tariffs remained unchanged.

Additionally, in the first five months of 2024, postal and telecommunications service tariffs increased by 2.6 percent in total compared to the same period last year. Specifically, postal service tariffs increased by 1.5 times, while telecommunications service tariffs decreased by 0.2 percent.

Meanwhile, cargo transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 19.599 million tons from January through May 2024, which is an increase of 1.1 million tons, or 5.8 percent, compared to the same period in 2023 (18.524 million tons).
