BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. The Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) of Iran is ready to assist in preparing a roadmap for the country's cooperation with Uzbekistan in the petrochemical sector, said Mohammad Shariatmadari, the CEO of PGPIC, Trend reports.
Speaking at a meeting held on May 18 in Tehran with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Shokhrukh Gulamov, Shariatmadari emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation, joint investment opportunities, and product exchange between the two countries.
He noted that the establishment of a permanent secretariat for petrochemical industry cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan could play a vital role in strengthening collaboration in this sector.
The holding official added that PGPIC is also prepared to provide training for personnel at Uzbekistan’s petrochemical facilities.
During the meeting, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Sharhkhokh Ghulamov, welcomed Iran’s proposals and expressed interest in organizing relevant training programs for Uzbek specialists at petrochemical sites.
To note, PGPIC is one of Iran’s leading petrochemical companies. The holding aims to increase its annual production capacity to 57.4 million tons and raise its product sales value to $30.1 billion by March 19, 2028. Its current annual production is reported to be around 26 million tons.
