Some 157 Iranian parliamentarians have forwarded a letter to President Hassan Rouhani asking for controlling the prices of main staples in the market, Trend reports quoting ISNA.
The letter states: "Mr. President! As you know, taking into account the poor management of the main staples on the government's part, prices of a number of products, including red meat, chicken, dairy products and some other products, as well as a rise in car prices have put a lot of pressure on the Iranian people. Urgent steps should be taken to regulate prices in order to address the problems of the citizens and to ensure their minimum well-being."
Recently, the price of meat in Iran exceeded 1.2 million rials (app. $2.85) per kg.
The Iranian parliament has 290 members.
