Türkiye reveals cargo volume accepted by its Mersin port for 10M2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 23. Türkiye's Mersin port received more than 31.9 million tons of cargo from January through October 2024.

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure shows that 2.3 million tons of cargo were transported from the port of Mersin by vessels running under the flag of Türkiye, and 29.6 million tons of cargo were transported by vessels under the flags of other countries.

A total of 306,503 tons of transit cargo was transported from the port of Mersin from January through October 2024.

The cargo turnover of Turkish ports in October 2024 amounted to 30.6 million tons. During this period, the cargo turnover to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.4 million tons.

“The cargo turnover of vessels under the flags of other countries in the ports of Türkiye amounted to 30.1 million tons,” the statement of the ministry reads.

At the same time, in October 2024, the transit cargo turnover in the ports of Türkiye amounted to 5.7 million tons.

The data of the ministry indicate that the ports of Türkiye received 331.3 million tons of cargo from January through October 2024.

“The cargo reception by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 25.9 million tons. Meanwhile, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo shipments to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 306.2 million tons,” the statement said.

The statement also says that a total of 57.5 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through October 2024.

To note, the ports of Türkiye received 5,396 vessels from January through October this year.

The number of vessels accepted in Turkish ports under the flags of other countries during this period amounted to 3,451, and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 945,000.

The ports of Türkiye received 51,713 vessels from January through October 2024.

"Turkish ports received a total of 33,584 vessels under the flags of other countries during the reporting period, while Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 18,129," the statement said.
