BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. This year, gas production in Azerbaijan is projected at 48.7 billion cubic meters, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov said, Trend reports.
Out of the total production, 24 billion cubic meters are expected to be exported, he added.
The minister also highlighted Azerbaijan's role as a reliable strategic partner in ensuring energy security for Europe, especially during the energy crisis.
"In 2021, 8.2 billion cubic meters of gas were transported to Europe, and last year, gas deliveries increased by 40 percent to 11.4 billion cubic meters, despite energy supply turbulence. Since the operation of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) to Turkey, 24.3 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas have been delivered, with 28.7 billion cubic meters reaching Europe.
Azerbaijani gas exports to Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor kicked off on December 31, 2020, marking a significant milestone in diversifying Azerbaijan's export capabilities by gaining direct access to the European gas market, the world's largest natural gas importer.
