Azerbaijani Youth Organization to Supervise Presidential Elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 May / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / The members of the Azerbaijani youth movement 'Dalga' will supervise the presidential elections, Araz Gasimov, acting Chairman of Dalga, stated to Trend on 13 May. .

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held in October 2008.

Gasimov stated that Dalga would cooperate with the Election Monitor Centre (EMC).

EMC attracts volunteers for long-term and short-term supervision over the elections in order to hold free, democratic and fair presidential elections. The volunteers will supervise over the elections in regions and cities of Azerbaijan.

EMC passed the state registration in the Justice Ministry in February 2008. However, the Ministry made a court appeal to court to cancel EMC's registration. The final decision will be made soon.

"Fifteen members from Dalga will hold long-term and 150 members short-term supervision over the presidential elections in the country," Gasimov stated.

Dalga implements different measures to increase activity and information knowledge amongst electorates. However, the movement will not support any candidate.

The youth movement Dalga was founded in February 2005.
