Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on May 5- 6, a source in Turkmen government told Trend.
"During the upcoming visit it is expected to exchange views on deepening the Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation, urgent regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as sign some bilateral documents," the source said.
Eleven high-level visits, including six visits of the Turkmen President to Uzbekistan and five visits of the Uzbek President to Turkmenistan have been realized since 1991, during which the legal basis for bilateral cooperation in various spheres has been laid.
Last visit at the high level took place in October 2010 when Uzbek President Islam Karimov paid an official visit to Turkmenistan on President Berdimuhammadov's invitation.
