Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / Early parliamentary elections in Turkey are alarming, as we see Turkey along with Azerbaijan as a guarantor and supporter of traditions of world state system in Muslim countries, reported Azerbaijani MP, Gultaking Hajiyeva, who is visiting Istanbul as a supervisor of parliamentary elections from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
According to the MP, the victory of the governing Justice and Development Party (JDP) in the elections is a choice of the Turkish people. Hajiyeva noted the importance of Turkey's adherence to the traditions of the world state system. In her opinion, Turkey had made several errors in state policy over the recent years and this should not be repeated. " Turkey should not repeat the mistakes made regarding the settlement of the Iraq conflict and Cyprus issue," Hajiyeva added.
Fighting with Kurdish radicals, who entered the Turkish parliament as independent MPs will be difficult compared to previous years, Hajiyeva said. She stated that the MPs from Diyarbekir and nearby regions plan to federalize Turkey and weaken the Turkish state system.
Early parliamentary elections took place in Turkey on 22 July. According to the final accounts, the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey collected 44.66% of the votes gaining 341 seats in Parliament. The ruling party was followed by the Republic Popular Party (20.85%) which secured 111 seats in Parliament. Third place was taken by the National Movement Party (14.29%) which will be represented at the Parliament by 70 deputies. In addition, 28 independent parliamentarians were elected.
