Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 June / Trend corr E. Babayev/ Since 2009, Azerbaijani TV channels must completely switch to the official language. "All programs and movies must be broadcasted in the Azerbaijani language. Television is still facing some problems," Nushiravan Maharramli, Chairman of the Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council, said.

Since 1 January, National Council prohibited TV channels from broadcasting films (feature films, documentaries) in foreign languages. As Turkish language is understood by Azerbaijani audience, it was allowed to broadcast films in Turkish language during some period.

According to Maharramli, National Council will compromise with TV channels till the end of the year. "Some films are dubbed with subtitles. Some programs of special importance are broadcasted in other languages. TV heads requested and we decided not to create problems for them till the end of the year," he said.
