On August 25 Tehran's court put on trial on opposition political activists arrested on charges of post election unrests in Iran, ILNA reported.
Famous political activists suspected in escalation of tension are facing prosecution in fourth trial.
Members of the Central Council of the Organization of Mojaheds of Iranian Revolution Behzad Nabavi, Feyzulla Arabsorhi, Sadiq Novruzi, members of the Central Council of Kargozaran party Hidayatulla Agai, secretary general of Iranian Intelligentsia Organization and famous journalist Ahmed Zeydabadi, chairman of Students Organization supporting ex-candidate for president Mir-Hossein Mousavi, Gamza Galibi, and Iranian journalist Mohammad Qochani, members of the Central Council of Musharikat movement Mohsen Safaeai Farahani, Said Shariati, Abdullah Ramazanzadeh, Mohsen Aminzadeh, Shahab Tabatabai, Ali Tajernii, Secretary General of Musharikat movement Mohsen Mirdamadi are among the defendants.
The defendants charged with conspiring with terrorist groups, the preparation of an explosion, possession of firearms, hand grenades, assault on police officers and volunteers, as well as on universities and police stations, delivery of photographs depictingmeetings, robbery, public disorder to the foreign press, causing damage to private and public enterprises.
As a result of presidential elections on June 12, Iran's current president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad got 62.63 percent of votes. His major rival Mir-Hossein Mousavi got 33.75 percent of votes. Mousavi announced about his victory before results of elections. But later he accused authorities of falsification of voting results. Thousands of people discontented with results of elections conducted actions of protest. These actions caused clashes with police.
Roughly 1,032 demonstrators were arrested. Most of them were released.
Several western countries expressed anxiety regarding tension in Iran after elections.
