The first case of death from H1N1 virus was recorded in Georgia. 27-year-old Ramaz Bezhanidze died in Batumi, Minister of Health Alexander Kvitashvili said to a press briefing on Dec. 12. "He later appealed to the doctors, and this caused death," the minister said.
Other five people are in hospitals in a difficult situation, he said. "One of them is recovering, in other cases the situation is critical, but not hopeless," said Kvitashvili.
In all cases, late appeal to doctors has led to serious disease, said the Minister. He called on all people to timely appeal to doctors if symptoms of flu appear.
At present, about 580 cases of AH1N1 virus have been registered as a result of laboratory analysis, the National Disease Control Centre said.
