Azerbaijan, Baku, August 6 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

Despite the fire caused by burning peat, there are no problems with the flights in the direction of Baku-Moscow-Baku, "Azerbaijan Airlines" (AZAL) said.

"There are no problems with the flights in this direction", AZAL said.

According to Lenta.ru, due to strong haze Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports failed to receive more than 40 flights and make about two dozen flights. The airport operates "on the actual weather", i.e the decision on takeoff and landing is taken by pilots.

Some of arriving aircrafts were sent to the alternate airport in Sheremetyevo. Several flights were re-directed to Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Kazan and Kharkov.

Summer is very hot this year in Russia. This resulted in forest and peat fires in the middle of the country, on the Volga, Far East and other regions. Nizhny Novgorod and Voronezh regions are the most affected regions. The fire approached the outskirts of many major Russian cities. Nearly 50 people died. Fire destroyed over 1,200 homes. Area of the fire exceeded 500,000 hectares.
