Some 300,000 apple seedlings have been imported to Azerbaijan via concessional funding from the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry's National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support (NFES), NFES Chief Executive Shirzad Abdullayev said.

A refrigeration and warehouse facility with a capacity of 5,000 tons is being constructed in the Gusar region to store future products, he said.

"The fund has allocated $ 2.35 million manat to the Agroline for these activities," he said.

The seedlings were planted over 200 hectares, and over 100,000 apple seedlings will be brought to Azerbaijan by autumn. The seedlings will be imported from Germany, Turkey and France.

"It will be possible to get the first products from these orchards in two years. The figure will reach 35-40 tons of apples per hectare," Abdullayev said.

The company, he said, is ready to cooperate with local farmers and provide them with seedlings for free.
