GUAM member countries are beginning a unified tourist project. This decision was taken at a group meeting on tourism by the GUAM member countries, held in the Tbilisi Hotel Radisson on Friday.
As the Georgian Tourism Agency head Maia Sidamonidze said, the goal of the single product will be to reach out to the Japanese market to attract tourists from Japan to the region. The tour operator Vanilla sky would be involved in this process.
During its work the group on tourism will also discuss tariffs. A joint declaration will be adopted as a result of the group's work with participation of heads of the GUAM countries' tourism departments. Ways of cooperation on tourism will also be developed.
As the GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili told Trend, the Tbilisi declaration consists of 11 points, the most important point of which is establishing a joint tourism product. "Tourism is one of the major formats within the GUAM member countries' cooperation. The last meeting on tourism was held in Baku two years ago and then a declaration was adopted, which has been executed and I think that this time the sides will work productively," he said, stressing that involvement of the Japanese specialists in this project is very important.
Chechelashvili said that today the sides will discuss single product promotion in the Japanese market in order to attract tourists. "I think that this product will be very attractive to the Japanese people," he said.
