The Turkmen Railway Transport Ministry will sign a contract with the "China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation" and "CSR Ziyang Locomotive" to purchase 10 diesel locomotives and 40 shunting locomotives, as well as spare parts for them.
The relevant decree was signed by President Berdimuhamedov.
The ministry earlier reported that it plans to buy forty locomotives in China in 2011-2012. All of them are for main destination, 35 of them will be involved in cargo transportation and five are designed for passenger trains.
The length of the Turkmen railway line is 3,127 kilometers. The North-South main line (Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan) is being built at this stage.
The various goods - cotton, textiles, oil, liquefied gas, construction materials, agricultural products, consumer goods will be exported via the new line.
