The loans provided by commercial banks (including loans to non-residents) in the Georgian economy in September increased by 3.8 percent or 269.2 million lari ($1 = 1.66 lari) compared with the previous month, as of Oct. 1, totaled 7.4 billion lari.
The amount of loans granted during this period in the national currency increased by six percent or 126.3 million lari, while loans in foreign currency - by 2.8 percent or 142.9 million lari, the National Bank of Georgia told Trend.
Resident legal entities in the reporting period received loans in local currency in amount of 791.8 million lari (7.1 percent or 52.7 million lari more compared with the previous month) in foreign currency - 3.4 billion lari (by 2.9 percent or 95 million lari more).
The largest share of total corporate lending - 49 percent - accounted for on trade. In September, two billion lari was provided for trade or 1.8 percent or 36.3 million lari more than the index for August.
The share of loans to industry made up 19.8 percent totaling 827.9 million lari (growth of 5.2 percent or 40.6 million lari), 11.5 percent accounted for 479.4 million lari (an increase of 3.7 percent or 17.3 million lari). Thus, 80.4 percent of total loan portfolio accounts for these three industries.
Lending to resident individuals increased by 4.2 percent or 120.1 million lari, totaling 3 billion lari as of Oct. 1.
