The Kazakh Metallurgical Company ArselorMittal Temirtau decreased liquid steel production by 15.7 percent in January - March, 2012 compared to the same period of 2011. The company produced 811,800 million tons of liquid steel in this period, Kazinform reported with reference to the company.
ArselorMittal Temirtau's cast iron production decreased by 12.7 percent during the reporting period to 717,700 tons, rolled metal production fell by 8.8 percent to 715,600 tons.
The company produced 1.35 million tons of agglomerate (8.9 percent decrease) and 834,700 of iron ore (7.4 percent decrease) in the first quarter of 2012.
Meanwhile, ArselorMittal Temirtau increased coal production by 11.7 percent to 2.8 million tons in the reporting period.
"The decrease in output of products resulted from low demand in export markets and traditionally low seasonal demand in Kazakhstan's and CIS countries' markets," the company said.
Meanwhile, the company expects increase in demand in CIS countries in the second quarter of 2012 and is ready to work in conditions of high demand in this period.
