Azerenerji joint stock company (sale and distribution of energy in Azerbaijan) plans to begin construction of a new hydroelectric power station with capacity of 25 megawatt in Fuzuli region, Azerenerji chairman Etibar Pirverdiyev said at a press conference.
The projects costs about 50 million euro.
"We have already appealed to the Finance Ministry to finance the project," Pirverdiyev said.
Half of the cost will be paid this year and remaining part in 2010, he said.
Pirverdiyev said the company has completed construction of combined-cycle plant with capacity of 517 megawatt in Sumgayit. Adjustment and alignment work is underway at the plant. The plant will be launched in 2009.
A new combined-cycle plant with capacity of 105 megawatt will be launched in Guba in 2009. It aims to supply Leze skiing resort with energy and improve energy supply in Guba and Gusar.
