SOCAR completes work in frame of new project in Georgia

Work on installation of equipment necessary to create infrastructure on the basis of Kulevi oil terminal in the frame of the project on transportation of chemical products through the terminal is nearing completion, a source at SOCAR told Trend.

"The work is carried out at an accelerated pace and activities to install the equipment are nearing completion," the source said.

The source said the construction work in the frame of the project can be completed in March - April of this year.

State Oil Company is intended to transport chemical products this spring a senior official of SOCAR reported previously.

Treated liquid polyethylene and propylene produced by "Azerkimya" - the largest in Azerbaijan manufacturer of chemical products is considered as raw materials for the handling. Currently, the products of this company are transported through other ports in Georgia.

Kulevi terminal was put into operation in summer 2008. Its total capacity is 10 million tons of oil per year, including 3 million tons of oil, 3 million tons of diesel fuel, and 4 million tons of fuel oil.

The terminal can accommodate up to 168 tank cars. The tank farm's total volume is 320,000 cubic meters with the possibility of increasing to 380,000 cubic meters.
