Amount of loans granted in Iran’s agricultural sector revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. Iranian banks lent approximately 2.24 quadrillion rials (about $53.2 billion) in the agricultural sector for the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Trend reports.

Data from Iran’s Central Bank shows that the loans were allocated for various purposes in the agricultural sector, such as:

- Working capital: about 1.53 quadrillion rials (about $36.4 billion);

- Establishment of enterprises and cultivation of gardens and arable lands: 510 trillion rials (about $12.1 billion);

- Development work: 148 trillion rials (about $3.52 billion);

- Self-employment: 40.5 trillion rials ($963 million);

- Purchase of personal assets: 4.68 trillion rials (about $116 million);

- Purchase of housing: 2.31 trillion rials (about $55 million);

- Repairs: 199 billion rials (about $4.73 million).

In total, the Iranian banks granted loans worth about 31.7 quadrillion rials (about $754 billion) in various economic sectors within the first nine months of the current Iranian year.
