BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. About 1,000 applications have been submitted to participate in the TEKNOFEST International Aviation, Space and Technology Festival in Azerbaijan, general manager for competitions of the Azerbaijani office of TEKNOFEST International Aviation, Space and Technology Festival Zeynab Babayeva said in an interview with Trend.
Babayeva said that the first stage of TEKNOFESTcompetition has already ended.
“Presently, the jury is evaluating the work and the projects of the registered teams,” the general manager stressed. “Moreover, the registration process has been completed in eight directions while registration of participants and teams is still underway in two directions, namely, Smart Qarabag and Baku Open Cyber Cup tournaments. The deadline for these two types of competitions is scheduled for April 1.”
The general manager added that it is planned to announce the list of teams and participants who passed from the first stage of the competition to the second stage on March 18-19.
“At the second stage, the participants will make a video presentation of their projects, while the participants will demonstrate a prototype of their projects in the final, which will be held in Baku Crystal Hall,” Babayeva said. “The Baku Skills competition, which is held on the basis of instructions, differs from all types of competitions.”
The general manager added that it is also planned that at the final stage, the participants of this competition will perform a certain task on the spot, which will be given by the jury.
Babayeva said that there are three more types of competition that are related to unmanned aerial vehicles and satellite modeling.
“At the first stage of this type of competition, the jury will evaluate the ability of the UAV movement on May 17-19,” the general manager said. “After this stage, the finalists who will be invited to the Baku Crystal Hall will be named.”
The general manager said that all participants will get certificates, money and other valuable prizes.
Such an event will be held in Azerbaijan for the first time.
“We are confident that holding of TEKNOFEST in Azerbaijan will become an additional incentive for the development of the country's technologies,” Babayeva said. “Our participants will get good experience in presenting their projects. Moreover, we will create a big exhibition of joint ideas within the cooperation with the Turkish office of TEKNOFEST .”
The general manager said that the conditions will also be created for all participants of the competition for further participation in the Take Off Summit international platform, in which foreign investors and mentors take part.
“This will allow TEKNOFEST participants to further demonstrate their ideas and projects at the Take Off Summit international platform and the opportunity to attract investors and enter the international markets with their projects,” Babayeva stressed.
The upcoming TEKNOFEST International Aviation, Space and Technology Festival will be held in Azerbaijan on May 26-29, 2022. TEKNOFEST in Baku is held by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan. At the same time, the TEKNOFEST production office operates in Baku. The full staff of the office is comprised of Azerbaijani specialists.
The event has been held annually since 2018, with the joint organization of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation, which is managed by the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and the chief technology officer of Baykar Makina, in partnership with more than 60 Turkish government institutions, universities and private companies.
The goal is to popularize such areas as aviation, space industry and digital economy, to encourage entrepreneurship in these areas, to identify the knowledge and skills of young engineers through competitions organized within the framework of the festival, as well as to present national technologies to the general public.
