Iran lays several railway lines

There are currently 5 railway lines (Hamadan-Sanandaj, Ardabil- Mianeh, Tabriz-Bostanabad, Rasht-Anzali and Chabahar-Zahedan) under construction in Iran, an official of Iran’s Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC) Mehdi Seydgar said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The official said that the laying of rails on the railway line from Hamadan in the Hamadan Province to Sanandaj in Kurdistan Province in western Iran has been completed. A number of other operations are underway.

Reportedly, the length of the Hamadan-Sanandaj railway is more than 150 kilometers.

Seydgar also added that rails have been laid at 91 km of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line in north-western Iran. About 84 km of the rails are lined from Ardabil, while 7 km from Mianeh.

As reported, the construction of Iran's Ardabil-Mianeh railway line began in 2015. The 175-kilometer long Ardabil-Mianeh railway has 62 tunnels with a length of 23.8 km.

“In addition, rails have been laid at 44 km of Tabriz- Bostanabad railway line in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran),” he said.

It is reported that the length of Tabriz- Bostanabad railway line is 70 kilometers.

The official stressed that work on 11 kilometers of the Rasht-Anzali railway in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) is nearing completion.

The length of this railway line is 41 kilometers.

According to him, 155 km of rails have been laid on the Chabahar-Zahedan railway line in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran).

As reported, the construction of the 720-kilometer Chabahar-Zahedan railway began in 2010. The length of the railway line is about 720 kilometers.
